Hiking
The local Totes Gebirge mountain range, the rewarding view from the Backenstein is just one of many amazing hiking destinations.
The small town also runs two popular huts in the mountains (of Totes Gebirge) – the Albert Appel House and the Pühringerhütte. Both are located at about 1,650 meters above sea level and can be reached from the Seehotel Grundlsee in about three to three-and-a-half hours.

If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you will find many idyllic hiking trails in the valley, such as the path from the Seeklause to Gößl or the new Gaiswinkler Rundweg. We can also recommend a hike to the Tressensteinwarte where you can experience a unique 360-degree panorama over the Ausseerland.
